Privacy

This is short because there is not much to say. We do not store the names you check, and we do not run analytics of any kind.

Effective 23 September 2026

Do you store the names I check?

No. A name you enter is sent to our server, checked against the registries and the platforms, streamed back to you, and not written down. It is not in a database, not in a log we keep, and not attached to you.

We do cache the answer for a short time, that example.com was taken when we last looked, so a repeated check is fast and cheap. That cache holds the target and its status. It does not hold who asked.

What do you store about me?

Two things, both only to make the free check work once rather than forever:

  • A random value in a cookie named handleyo_v. It identifies nothing about you; it is a number we generated so we can recognise the same browser.
  • A one-way hash of your IP address. We never store the address itself. We only ever ask whether we have seen a given one before, and a hash answers that without us holding a list of visitor IPs.

Both are kept for one year and then expire.

What if I create an account?

Accounts are handled by Clerk, which stores your email address and sign-in details on our behalf. We do not run our own user database. See Clerk’s privacy policy.

If you subscribe, payment is handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe directly and never reach our servers. We store only the subscription status Stripe reports back to us, so we know whether to let you keep checking. See Stripe’s privacy policy.

Do you use analytics or advertising?

No. There is no analytics package, no advertising pixel and no third-party tracker on this site. Nobody is being profiled here, including by us.

Who else sees anything?

  • Vercel hosts the site and keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, as any web host does.
  • Upstash holds the cache and the free-check records described above.
  • Clerk and Stripe as described above, only if you make an account or subscribe.
  • Checks are made outbound to registries and to the platforms being checked. Those requests carry the name being checked, because that is the question being asked. They do not carry anything about you.

We do not sell data, and there is nothing here that would be worth selling.

How do I delete my data?

Clearing your cookies removes the browser side. For an account, delete it from your account settings and Clerk removes it. For anything else, write to hello@zootric.com and we will deal with it.

There is no search history to request, because we never made one.

Changes

If this page changes materially we will update the effective date above. The substance , that we do not store what you check, is the point of the product and is not something we plan to change.
